Frequently Asked Questions.

How much does a tattoo cost?

Due to the nature of custom tattooing, we are NOT able to give you an accurate quote online or over the phone.

We will do our best to give you a ballpark estimate prior to starting your tattoo, but for larger works this can be difficult.

We charge a flat rate for smaller one appointment tattoos and $200 per hour for multiple session tattoos. This will be covered during your consultation prior to setting a deposit.

Since our artists charge hourly, the final cost of your tattoo depends on how long it takes. Factors such as the size of the final design, amount of detail or style of the design, how well you sit, and how many hours you are willing or able to sit during each session effect the time it takes to complete your tattoo, and we won't know exactly until we have finished the process.

If we were going to give a ballpark estimation of different sizes of pieces, a hand size tattoo can be done in a few hours, a half sleeve could take 2-4 sessions (3-6 hours minimum per).

Do I have to leave a deposit to schedule an appointment?

Yes, a deposit is required when you start ANY new project. This is needed to secure your start date, design preparation and drawing time. All deposits are NON-REFUNDABLE.

What do I need to do if I need to cancel an appointment?

We require 72 hour notice prior to rescheduling your appointment as well as a new deposit to secure your future appointment date if the artist is willing to reschedule or has time available to reschedule. If you seek to reschedule within less than 72 hours of your appointment rescheduling will not be permitted and any deposit submitted will be forfeited to the artist. If you no-show then your deposit is forfeited and you will not be available to book at Benchmark again.

Any changes to the design after the initial consultation will result in the forfeiture of the deposit, and need for a new consultation and appointment date.

Are walk-ins welcome?

We are currently accepting walk-ins if we have the availability. The best way to check same day availability is to give us a call, or submit a consultation form.

What is the pain level of a tattoo?

The best comparison would be to getting a scratch on a sunburn or to having someone draw on you with a ball-point pen on a sunburn. It doesn’t feel good, but it’s more of an intermittent irritation than a constant pain. Remember, a tattoo has more in common with an abrasion than it does with a hypodermic needle shot from the doctor.
